On Thursday, March 27, 2025, Kruger Law Firm traveled to Sacramento to lobby the Calif State Legislature, Calif Air Resources Board, and Governor Newsom’s office on behalf of residents affected by Chiquita Landfill
Nathan Kruger (Kruger Law Firm) and Nima Sadeghi (Kiesel Law) were honored to join Oshea Orchid (Sethi Orchid Miner), non-profit Citizens for Chiquita Canyon Closure, and Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo, who all spearheaded the trip, to accomplish the following:
- DECLARE A STATE OF EMERGENCY
The LA Board of Supervisors or the Governor need to activate funding that can help residents relocate, manage loans, and cover expensive healthcare costs. - SUPPORT CALIF. ASM. SCHIAVO’S BILLS — AB 27 and 28
The state legislature must approve funding to support these bills that would provide tax relief and State funds for relocation assistance. - STRENGTHEN LANDFILL REGULATIONS
The California Air Resources Board needs to strengthen landfill emissions regulations to protect communities now. Regulators must ensure that landfill operators are held to high standards for controlling emissions.
